Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, 6 September 2016 — Prince Rahim represented Mawlana Hazar Imam at the opening ceremony of the Second World Nomad Games, an international event that celebrates the cultural heritage of nomadic peoples throughout out the world.

Romikhudo Dodikhudoev is Tajikistan's only athlete at the 2016 Paralympic Games, which opens in Rio today. He will compete in the Men’s 100 metre and 400 metre races and wants his participation in the Games to be a source of hope for all people with disabilities in his country.

Ottawa, 12 July 2016 — Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 59th Imamat Day was celebrated on Thursday at the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat at a reception organised by the AKDN Resident Representative for Canada. The Honourable Senator Peter Harder addressed the gathering on behalf of the government.

11 July 2016 — Mawlana Hazar Imam has graciously consented to marking the 60th year of his Imamat as the Diamond Jubilee. The news was announced on the occasion of Imamat Day by the Ismaili Leaders’ International Forum and the national Ismaili Councils in Jamatkhanas around the world.

Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chief Minister, Hafiz Hafeez Ur Rehman, visited the Ismaili Centre on 21 January 2016 where he met with members of the Jamati leadership from the UK and Europe. Islamabad, 27 May 2016 — As their working visit to Pakistan drew to a close, Princess Zahra and Prince Rahim expressed optimism and a sense of opportunity about the tasks that lay ahead of AKDN in improving quality of life for the people of the country. Toronto, 20 May 2016 — At a special ceremony held this evening, the Pontifical Institute for Mediaeval Studies awarded Mawlana Hazar Imam an honorary degree for his service to humanity. Lisbon, 12 May 2016 — The Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education and the Ismaili Imamat signed an agreement today that will strengthen research capacity and improve quality of life in Portugal and in Portuguese-speaking countries. Mawlana Hazar Imam and members of his delegation, as well as Ministry staff were present at the signing ceremony. The Ismaili Imamat is supporting the agreement with a €10 million grant over 10 years.

Lisbon, 12 May 2016 — Mawlana Hazar Imam is in Portugal for his first official visit since a landmark agreement establishing the global Seat of the Ismaili Imamat in Portugal came into effect. Yesterday evening he attended a dinner hosted in his honour by the President of the Portuguese Republic.

Canada’s Governor General opened a two-day conference at the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat in Ottawa that aims to raise the profile of higher education on the global development agenda. Attendees from more than 20 countries and a dozen universities gathered to discuss how tertiary education can improve quality of life.
