Shia Ismaili Scouts and Guides Association in Uganda, joined the other Scouting community in a cleanliness initiative in Nsambya West.  They participated in an initiative that was launched by Makindye District Scouts Council who on ‘Heroes Day’ organised cleaning of the community marking the opening of their new offices, combined with a charity walk led by Makindye Scouts Brass Band under the theme ‘Scouting for Clean Environment’

Asif Patel, the National Council member responsible for Youth and Sports in his comments about this initiative said, “We are proud of our Youth - who understand that such outreach activities and contributing to the community at large are part and parcel of daily living.

Service, Caring and Sharing - are all essential principles of our faith, and also intrinsic to the Scouting way of life.  It is very important that the Youth engage in such leadership activities and understand the importance of cleanliness in society.  This type of engagement builds on the principles of service to the community, teamwork unity and most importantly responsible citizenship.”
